About

The Real Warriors Campaign is a public awareness campaign that encourages help-seeking behavior among service members, veterans and military families coping with invisible wounds. Launched by the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury in 2009, the campaign is an integral part of the Defense Department's overall effort to encourage warriors and families to seek appropriate care and support for psychological health concerns. Together with military leaders and the services at large, we can spread the message that reaching out is a sign of strength. Join us in saluting and supporting those who serve!

Privacy Policy

The Real Warriors app is a fun, safe way for you to share photos through our online photo-sharing service. Provided by the Real Warriors Campaign ("we," "us" or "our"), the app lets you snap a picture, choose a color, pick a message, add a caption and upload your photo. Salute others' photos and share!

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect information in relation to our mobile services, website and any software provided on or in connection with the photo-sharing services (collectively, the "Service"), and your choices about the collection and use of your information. Our Privacy Policy applies to all visitors, users and others who access the Service ("Users").

The Real Warriors Campaign collects only the information you share.

1) By using our Service, you understand and agree that we are providing a Service for you to publicly post content, including photos and captions ("User Content"), to THE WALL as rendered in the app and on realstrength.realwarriors.net ("the Wall").

2) This means other Users may search for, see, use or share any of your User Content that you upload to the Wall, consistent with the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service. Please see our Terms of Service for a more detail explanation of Service rules.

The Real Warriors Campaign and others may share your User Content.

3) Any User Content that you voluntarily share through the Service becomes available to the public. Once you have shared User Content and it has been made public on the Wall, that User Content becomes available to be re-shared by you and others. The Service has no control of Users sharing content (i.e. copy and redistribute in any medium or format) and adapting content (i.e. remix, transform and build upon). Use of appropriate byline/photo/image credit to realstrength.realwarriors.net is requested.

4) The Real Warriors Campaign reserves the right to share and adapt User Content in other materials and platforms, including, but not limited, to Facebook, Twitter, realwarriors.net, etc.

5) You have the right to remove and delete your User Content from the Wall, a feature which is accessible via the Library in the app. At your request, if your User Content is included in the campaign's public materials and/or the campaign's public platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter), then we will attempt to remove any adaptions provided it does not create an undue burden. If you delete a photo, but do not request us to discontinue sharing or adapting, we reserve the right to continue using your User Content.

The Real Warriors Campaign does not collect or share your personal information.

6) The Real Warriors Campaign does not collect personally identifiable information about you, such as your name, address, phone number or email address. Therefore, the campaign does not share personally identifiable information (e.g., name, address, email, phone) with other companies or federal agencies.

7) The Real Warriors Campaign does not knowingly allow anyone under the age of 13 to use this Service. As such, the Service neither collects nor solicits any information from anyone under the age of 13, nor does the campaign collect, post or release their personal information. If you believe the campaign has inadvertently collected such information from or about a child under the age of 13, please contact webmaster@realwarriors.net.

8) The Real Warriors Campaign uses analytic and customization technology including "cookies" for realstrength.realwarriors.net and for the Real Warriors app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Cookies are used to remember a user's online interactions with a website or online application in order to conduct measurement and analysis of usage or to improve the user's experience. The Defense Department does not use the information associated with cookies to track individual user activity on the Internet outside Defense Department websites, nor does it share the data obtained through such technologies, without the user's explicit consent, with other departments or agencies.

9) In accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's privacy guidelines for mobile apps and the White House's privacy framework, we "collect only the information we need." When you use the Real Warriors app for iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to access our Service, we may access, collect, monitor, store on your device, and/or remotely store one anonymous, unlinkable "device identifier," in accordance with Apple's Developer Guidelines. The device identifier we use, IdentifierForVendor, is an alphanumeric string that uniquely identifies a device to the app's vendor, us. This is an Apple standard for providing services like ours to Apple devices without users having to share personal information like an email address, username or password. At any time, the device identifier can be reset by the user in your Apple device's system settings. However, some features of the Service, such as the Library feature, may be reset or may not function properly if use or availability of the device identifier is impaired or disabled.

Unauthorized access.

10) Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information on this Service are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act.

Communications.

11) We may send you push notifications (if you consent) and in-app messages including, but not limited to: timely messages, photo challenges, your photo being available on the Wall, and/or your photo being rejected because it violated our Terms of Service. Note that you must opt in to receive push notifications, but may not opt out of in-app messages.

12) Future revisions to this Privacy Policy and/or Terms of Service will be listed in the "What's New" release notes as the Real Warriors app is updated on the App Store. We may also send you a push notification.
